How to Build Kitchen Cabinet Carcass
Easy tutorial to build your own kitchen cabinet carcass with pocket holes
Easy tutorial to build your own kitchen cabinet carcass with pocket holes
Cost of cabinets – for this cabinet we used up 1/2 a sheet of 3/4″ plywood ($10 for particle board or $35 for prefinished PureBond hardwood plywood) 8 feet of 1x2s in poplar ($8) and about 30 1-1/4″ pocket hole screws and then 1/6 a sheet of 1/4″ plywood ($3 for cheap plywood or $7 for prefinished PureBond) –
So total cost made with Particle Board for 21″ base carcass = $21
Total cost made with PureBond Prefinished Hardwood Plywood (as shown) = $50
The doors we ordered through cabinetnow.com. This door we used was hardwood framed, full overlay, raised panel, cope and stick – $54 and the drawer face $13.
We used metabox drawer slide system = $8 for the drawer slide (and just 1/2″ plywood on bottom and back)
Hope this helps!

Ana White, you’re the Best! (And husband, too!).
Very cool sir. Watching a skilled tech in action always helps a person like me! Thanks very much!
really informative video, the music is a bit off putting though…I’d rather listen to what you are saying 🙂
Tip: Turn your nailer square to the panel instead of turning your arm for the gun to be in parallel to the joint. Angled Chisel point of pin nail or staple encounters changing ply densities causing a blow out. Square orientation the pin encounters consistent ply density and stays straight.

great video and good technique advice; thank you
Thanks for watching Pat! I’m glad you like it!
Great video I like how you make explain it and make it look easy.
Could you please demonstrate constructing a carcass for an upper diagonal corner cabinet?
Thanks

The one thing I would do different is not have the exposed edge of the plywood showing down at the toe kick. Great video think you.
thank you very simple to follow and very helpful
+jenny solorzano Thank you Jenny!
This was extremely helpful. Spent the winter/spring building cabinets for my garage, laundry room and office. You saved me soooo much money and I am very happy with the end result. Thank you so much!

Thanks for watching!
when building cabinets don’t you use glue as well.?
Love your video. Thank you for doing it. BUT PLEASE: turn off that background music!! We don’t need that noise we are trying to listen to YOU !
I see this video is a few year’s old so you are probably not following it anymore. I just wanted to say great video; it was exactly what we were looking for. Our fixer upper has become a pocket emptier and at the time we bought it the kitchen was empty except for a sink base. My husband and i are pretty handy so we are going to try building some base cabinets to get us by for a few years. Thanks again!
I lovedvyour process instruction.
You’re a lucky man .to have all that knowledge. Keep going. Thanks
