In this video I complete a full #restoration of my bedroom, removing the old posters and cabinets before painting the walls and building new
built in birch plywood cabinets!
As I said at the end of the video this was one of my hardest projects to date, but it was definitely worth the effort and I’m really looking forward to using the new space! If you have any questions or feedback about anything in the video please don’t hesitate to get in touch!

I watch a lot of youtube and esp diy/wood working type stuff and I never really comment on any, but i just wana say amazing work. Have always loved how u make videos and the stuff u are making now is next level. All the best fella!

    JMakes - August 26, 2019

Thats really kind of you Jackzuk and thanks for breaking from your normal video routine – it really means a lot!

Robots N That - August 26, 2019

Great video once again. Great result too! Learned a few tricks here. You’re a very talented young fella. And you’ve left your mum”s kitchen alone this time lol. Keep it up! Why not try a Patreon/Paypal donation link?

    JMakes - August 26, 2019

Haha thanks mate! I have actually got a donation link on my website although I don’t really like actively promoting it and although I would love to have a Patreon page, because I often have breaks in putting up content I’m not sure how fair it would be on the people that wanted to join. Definitely something to think about though!

Lindsay Shaw - August 26, 2019

Awesome build and editing, yet again. I really enjoyed the thoughtful introduction too.

    JMakes - August 26, 2019

Thanks Lindsay , really appreciate it!

David Daniels Craftsman - August 26, 2019

An amazing transformation! You can tell that you’ve really thought this through very carefully to maximize the rooms potential and the natural flow of how you use the space. Love it!

    JMakes - August 26, 2019

Thanks David! I had to play about with quite a lot of different configurations and layouts for the cabinets – definitely more so than usual – but I hope its going to maximise the space I’ve got!

Stian Maurstad - August 26, 2019

Another great video, intro, storytelling, music, showing how you do it, with simple tools and techniques. Keep it up!

    JMakes - August 26, 2019

Thanks Stian, really appreciate it and I will try to haha!

Vani Jay - August 28, 2019

please be my wood master! I want you to pass all your techniques down to me!!!!

Keep It Simple Studio - August 28, 2019

Great work, I think you deserve a custom made bed next.

    JMakes - August 29, 2019

Thank you & don’t worry, its the next project in this series!

BRANDON Grinaker - August 30, 2019

Nicely done J! Your production is top notch. I love the synergy, intentionality and thoughtfulness in all your makes!

    JMakes - September 4, 2019

    Thank you Brandon!

Jolien Brebels - September 2, 2019

Great renovation! Looking forward to the next part!

    JMakes - September 4, 2019

Thanks Jolien, and so am I – I need somewhere to sleep haha!

Maker Gray - September 4, 2019

I love your videos so much. I really, really like this project, too! I love that you kept it unpainted and minimal. Totally inspiring me to do one myself. Cheers!

    JMakes - September 5, 2019

Thanks so much Erin and you definitely should – I’d love to see what you come up with!
I did consider painting some of the compartments, but since I knew I’d be filling the cavities with all different coloured books and ornaments I thought it would be best just to keep it simple so as to avoid any visual conflicts!

Casual Builds - September 6, 2019

Great build! The rip cut at 7:40 had me sitting on the edge of my seat.

    JMakes - September 20, 2019

Thank you mate & yes its definitely one of the more ‘risky’ cuts! I would only suggest doing it if you are confident with your saw, doing freehand cuts, have a riving knife and know where your hands are at all times!

Adrian Murray - September 12, 2019

You ever see a big YouTube channel and say “damn I remember when they only had 13k subscribers” this is that channel right now. It’s going places.

    JMakes - September 20, 2019

Thanks very kind of you Adrian & I definitely hope you’re right haha!

Crafted Workshop - September 18, 2019

These look awesome man! Definitely inspiring me for some built-ins I’m planning for our bonus room, which has angled ceilings.

    JMakes - September 20, 2019

Thank you so much Johnny! Pitched roofs and weird angles can definitely make builds more intimidating, but so long as you take your measurements carefully I didn’t think it added that much more difficulty to the project  and as woodworkers we definitely know we have always got columns and caulking to fall back on!

Michael Bailey - September 22, 2019

Really impressive stuff mate. Keep at it!

    JMakes - September 22, 2019

Thanks Michael, really appreciate it mate!

Joseph Limbrick - October 4, 2019

Love this project mate. I wish my wife was a minimalist.

    JMakes - October 4, 2019

Haha thanks Joseph, I’m sure you will convert her one day soon!

Gamaliel j - October 5, 2019

Did you edge band the doors or scribed them, I can’t get them not to Warp
