Olympic Athlete and Furniture Maker Build Beautiful Tiny Home

This dynamic young couple are used to working hard and bringing their dreams to life, one of those dreams was to construct their own tiny house on wheels. Eve and Chris decided to make the move to Raglan, New Zealand for a better quality of life, but the rental market didn’t make that easy – so the couple decided to get creative and put their skills to the test to build a tiny home.

Support our show:

Chris has a furniture making business and is no stranger to tools and timber, which is evident from the homes clever design and great finishes. The couple spent a lot of time searching for cheap materials for the home which helped to greatly reduce the cost of the build and make the tiny house truly an affordable option.

Ana Lilia Zavala Azcué - March 17, 2019

Is there anyway to buy the plans for this tiny home ? I loved it

Mercy Namikoye - March 8, 2019

Its so open and airy. Beautiful! I keep saying there can’t be better but it gets better

    Mercy Namikoye - March 8, 2019

I love all of them. Here in Kenya land is super expensive in the big cities and also in the agricultural productive sort of safe areas so for us young ppl it is quickly becoming unachievable to buy a ready made apartment or house or even to rent. But we can get affordable land in what we call our ancestral lands and these tiny homes are such an inspiration. For us though it has to be on foundation but still loads of ideas from the videos I never miss an upload. Its currently 1:51am Saturday morning waiting for this!

    Freddy Rassinger - March 8, 2019

@Mercy Namikoye I think being on a raft foundation may make construction easier. Good luck…now get to bed!

    YeahYeah Yeah - March 8, 2019

    I agree. There’s always a new “favorite” I see.

    flying falafel - March 9, 2019

    manfred schmalbach - March 9, 2019

Isn’t Newfoundland quite challanging in terms of climate? I’d love to see that house David built.

    Amy Ford - March 10, 2019

    Yaaas! Please go to Newfoundland!!!

Rebecca Oliver - March 8, 2019

I love that this project was Eve’s remedy for depression. So glad she shared that. Great vids. Thanks so much!

    manfred schmalbach - March 9, 2019

Having a place to be is an essential, ain’t it? No matter how “big”, just knowing there is one …

    Farouk Goolam Thebus - March 9, 2019

    Yep, I agree. Best therapy.

    paul w - March 9, 2019

    Tina Gallagher - March 15, 2019

I’ll be building my own RV starting later this year. Partly for depression therapy (self-prescribed). Can’t wait to feel elated about the results.

Lim Lop - March 8, 2019

Wow, I love the clean lines, minimalism, and function, all without losing warmth, Chris. I am glad the project helped with your depression Eve and best of luck (if you can call it that) for your next rowing competition.

Charles H - March 8, 2019

Thanks Bryce for a very enjoyable tour of Eve and Chris’ home. They’re a beautiful couple that have created a really nice, well designed and comfortable home for themselves. All the creature comforts are attended to. My hat is off to them – they’ve done a really great job. Thank you Bryce AGAIN for another enjoyable video. Take care my friend. 😉

    I need a thtoo

    Riana Appling - March 16, 2019

Renata Novato - March 8, 2019

This NZ series is just amazing! When I think we have seen the best tiny house there comes an even better one. New Zealanders Rule

    Freddy Rassinger - March 8, 2019

Perhaps there r no bugs in NZ?

    manfred schmalbach - March 9, 2019

What I hear, in NZ the shortage of affordable living spaces throughout and general house prices reach levels otherwise seen maybe in San Francisco or central London only. So necessity being the mother of inventions is supposed to show – as it does, recurrently, in Bryce’s NZ videos.

Tiare K - March 8, 2019

Good luck Eve at next year Olympics. Such a lovely home.

Freedom Strider - March 8, 2019

“I want to build a tiny house one day”

Couple of months is all it took to go from the “one day” to “let’s do it now” 😀

Living Big In A Tiny House - March 8, 2019

Nice one! I wish you all the best.

    Lorraine James - March 9, 2019

Well do it…it would be amazing.

Stuart Sutherland - March 8, 2019

I thought the last tiny house was fabulous but this one’s as good if not better. I really liked their homemade clothes airer seen at 11.24 and that dining table was really smart too. The white walls and big windows certainly create a feeling of space.

    chez moi - March 9, 2019

Thanks for pointing out the clothes dryer, I would never have noticed it. What a clever detail.

XplaneZ - March 8, 2019

more than the homes I love that you show these loving couples and touching stories behind the homes.

Alice Kim - March 8, 2019

Saturday morning, a cup of coffee, and your video just make my day ☕

    Christina Reynolds - March 13, 2019

    Isn’t modern society wonderful.

    tacicana - May 18, 2019

What a coincidence, It is a Saturday morning right now when I am watching and reading your comment 🙂

rumigirl - March 8, 2019

So pretty, I watched it twice. (Cannot buhLEEVE how many beautiful homes you find to show us. Gives me great hope for my own future and everyone else’s.)

FeelItRising - March 8, 2019

drawers under couch! so much better than having to flip up cushions and top loading. This is the way to go

    Meluforever - March 10, 2019

shure! but it means more work (make drawers), more weight, and you need space to open them.

Stacey - March 8, 2019

Another beautiful home and video. Thanks for inspiration! I also want to thank Eve for her frank discussion about depression. I jog every day to keep depression at bay and am encouraged by her example.
